Sound & Groove Episode 34- "Takin' it to the Streets: Transportation Tracks, Episode 1"

J.J. Cale straight out of Oklahoma with a guitar style and sound that resembled a snake crawling out of the swamps and through the grass at times, other times like a lazy ol' turtle walking along the beach. Either way, he was unique and as original as they came upon emerging in the early 70s from years as a noted sideman and studio performer to make his own records. Passing away at the age of 74 last week, one of his "transportation tracks" features in this week's episode of the Sound & Groove podcast.

Everyone loves a good ol' driving song but how about songs about the roads? Whether it be about superhighways, autoroutes, expressways, boulevards or any another residential path, they all count. Herein lies a superb collection of themed songs on that subject to feast your ears upon. Whether it makes for good driving music or not is irrelevant- though score bonus points if it does! What matters is that these songs evoke thoughts and feelings of traveling, moving "'cross the highways and the biways" as the Hollies once sang. It's all part of this monthly themed podcast show entitled Sound & Groove.

And if you're new to this podcast: Every month there will be a theme that the selection of music is centred around. It will be jam packed with my analysis, synopses, breakdowns, anecdotes and other witticisms you might enjoy. And not to worry, each month will contain a different theme than the last. This is the first of a special episodes this month of August going by the theme of "Takin' it to the Streets: Transportation Tracks." All killer, no filler... other than when I talk and introduce the tunes and recap the ones before it. But aside from that? 100% juicy meat! Below I've also provided information and links relevant to the matters discussed in this particular edition of Sound & Groove.

But in all seriousness, let me now what you'd like to hear or see and I'll consider it. Popular approval doesn't always sway me but having fans or listeners get their input would be just grand!
